Throw up. Gross. First throw up. Disgusting. It has been a while since I have had time to write. Life is busy. I had to share this story about the first throw up. Our little guy has been sick before, but this was the first time he threw up…on me!
My wife was working and little man was tired so he took a nap on me. When he woke up something wasn’t right. He was cranky and not loving life. I took him upstairs and then he started to shiver a little. I thought, maybe he has a fever and then blowing chunks happened! He threw up on me and a couple of times. It stinks seeing a little guy be that upset and all I wanted to do was help.
I went to find the temporal lobe thermometer. We had just been away recently and I had no idea where it was. “Don’t panic,” I said. I can find it. I wanted the thermometer so I could take his temperature and then give him some Tylenol.
But I couldn’t find the thermometer. It wasn’t in all the obvious places I thought it would be. So I checked again. I thought if I could find it and he has a high temperature, we are off to the emergency room for some help. I tried to remain calm. Finally, I had to call my wife for help and see if she knew where the thermometer was. She recommended all the places I checked, except I didn’t hear her say one place and that is where it was. So I administered the infant Tylenol, gave him a bath since there was some remnants both on him and me, and then finally took his temperature. It was 100.3.
I also called his doctor. Throwing up and fever is what I was calling in about. I probably should have done that in the first place, but I was determined to find the thermometer and remedy the entire situation. The doctor wasn’t available so I had to leave a message. Not finding the thermometer for a good 20 minutes definitely screwed up the plan. In the end, he was fine and I was prepared to do whatever I need to help out our little guy. I now have the neighbor’s number on speed dial in case I need to borrow a thermometer…stat. Pronto, ASAP!
Little ones get sick, but you feel so helpless and in someways you are a little until they get better! Here’s to some more sick days and looking forward to getting thrown up on again!
