Where does a year go? Our little guy turned one year old in January. That is crazy. I told him that night when we were giving him a bath that we made it through a year with him and what is even crazier is that he made it through the year with us!
His first birthday was great. We went to swim lessons and then got ready for his party. The party was more for adults than for him. But we did have a cake! We also have a close family friend who shares the same birthday as our son. We decided to have a dual birthday party so we could celebrate our son’s first birthday and our friend’s 34th birthday!
It was also playoff football so some important games were on.
I am not sure if our little guy knew that it was his special day. He got to eat cake for the first time. It was all good until he got icing in his eye! He did not like that; at all! That is why he got a bath later on.
The other thing that is quite comical, although, as I write this, it is probably one of those, “you had to be there moments.” When I am on feeding duty and letting our little guy eat, I like to keep him clean. I don’t like having peanut butter or other food hanging from my mouth, why should he? After our little guy got some icing in his eyes, he wanted to be comforted. But he had cake and icing everywhere. So where did he end up? He climbed right into my lap. It was great and my mother-in-law was dying. That is because she knows how I like to keep our son clean and not make a mess. A mess we made, but that was alright since it was his first birthday.
The year in review was really something. Our little guy went from being an infant, to crawling, to walking, to now marching. It is crazy to think that we have made it through a year. Time does really fly and the one constant is we can never stop it.
Here is to many more years of firsts!
